The lodge was built for long days outdoors and longer evenings in. We have kept it that way.
Glenfortune sits at the head of Strathardle, a granite house with its own loch, a walled garden and a great hall that has always been the heart of the evening. Spend the day on the hill or by the water; come back to a fire, a proper dinner and, if you like, a table in the hall.

Rooms & Suites
Every room faces the water or the hill. Fires are laid the night before, breakfast comes up when you ask for it, and nobody will knock before ten.

Our most-requested king room, tucked under the eaves on the east side.
Morning comes in low through a deep sash window: the loch first, then the bracken turning copper on the far slope. An ochre leather reading chair, a stove lit on request, and linen that makes getting up a negotiation.

A sitting room built around a three-sided bay above the water.
Draw the curtains back and the mist is still lifting off the loch. The sitting room keeps its own granite hearth, and through the oak door a copper roll-top bath faces the same view — breakfast can be brought to either.

Three stone-framed windows look down the glen, a gallery of books runs along the gable, and a wood-burning stove sits on a slate hearth between the armchairs. Our largest suite, and the quietest room in the house.
Dining
Game from the hill, trout from the loch, vegetables from the walled garden. Tables are held for residents first; the concierge takes all other reservations.
Fine dining over an open fire
Hill lamb, hand-dived scallops and estate venison cooked over birch and oak embers at a granite hearth. Seven courses or à la carte, with the kitchen in full view.
Dinner, Wednesday to Sunday, 6.30pm – 10pm
The estate kitchen, all day
One long oak table by the kitchen fire: porridge and kippers in the morning, soup and bread from the walled garden at lunch, and a pot of tea waiting whenever you come in off the hill.

Gaming & Entertainment
Blackjack, roulette and poker under the hammerbeam roof, a card room in the old library, and fiddle music drifting in from next door.
18+
All gaming areas are strictly 18+. Valid photo ID is checked at the door of the great hall, and anyone who appears under 25 will be asked for it.
Daily, 4pm – 3am
The lodge’s double-height hall, under its oak hammerbeam roof, with blackjack, roulette and poker tables arranged down the length of the room and the fire kept high at the far end.
Evenings, by arrangement
An elegant high-end card room among the old estate books: one oval table, green-shaded lamps and a small hearth. Seating is arranged through the concierge.
Live music Thursday to Saturday from 9pm
The lodge’s music room, opening off the hall — fiddle and accordion sets, folk singers and the occasional string quartet, with a sprung floor for anyone who can’t sit still.
Play is entertainment with a cost, and we keep it that way. Every guest can set their own limits with the floor team. Our responsible-gaming commitment
The Still Room
Our whisky library keeps more than three hundred single malts in cut-crystal decanters, with a good share from the distilleries within a day’s drive. Ask the bar for a flight by region, or simply for something to finish the evening on.

Getting here
Glenfortune is around twenty-five minutes’ drive from Pitlochry, at the end of Ardvenn Road where the tarmac gives way to the estate drive. Edinburgh and Glasgow are a little over two hours by road.
Arriving by train? Let the concierge know your time and a car will meet you at Pitlochry station.
